Antigua & Barbuda Strengthens Global Ties with UAE Through Visa Waiver Agreement

Antigua and Barbuda has taken another important step in expanding its global reach by signing a visa waiver agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The signing took place on the margins of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, led by Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, E.P. Chet Greene, and the UAE’s Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy.

With this new arrangement, citizens of Antigua and Barbuda will no longer need a visa to enter the UAE. This development is expected to increase bilateral cooperation, strengthen cultural and business ties, and unlock further opportunities for both countries. Previously, Emirati entry required an eVisa, but the waiver now ensures smoother travel for business, education, and cultural exchange.

“A major step in our diplomatic relations,” noted Foreign Minister Greene at the signing.

What This Means for Antigua and Barbuda

  • Greater mobility for Antiguan and Barbudan citizens across the Middle East.
  • Increased Emirati investment into Antigua’s tourism, real estate, and financial sectors.
  • Enhanced positioning of Antigua and Barbuda as a trusted partner in international cooperation and sustainable development.

The UAE joins a growing list of nations strengthening ties with Antigua and Barbuda, underscoring the passport’s strength. As of 2025, Antiguan citizens enjoy visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to over 150 destinations worldwide, placing it among the Caribbean’s most powerful travel documents. Antigua and Barbuda are the first Eastern Caribbean country with the full free visa access to UAE.
