In Scotland, at the United Nations climate conference, the Commonwealth of Dominica signed a bilateral agreement with Швейцария. Under this agreement, Dominica can sell its carbon credits in order for Switzerland to meet its emission obligations under the Paris Agreement.
Switzerland will finance the electrification of Dominica’s transport, as well as a geothermal power plant, which will be completed in 2023. Thanks to the power plant, Dominica will reduce its dependence on fossil fuels and will be able to provide electricity to the French islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique.
