Saint Kitts and Nevis Is Improving Its Education Sector

Senior Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Education Dr. Tricia Esdaille said the department is working to change the education sector. To this end, the foundations for continuous professional development are being created for all those working in the education sector. The Ministry is working hard to fulfill the important activities indicated in the Education Department Plan for 2020-2021.

The education sector received $104 million in 2022, representing more than 10% of the total federal budget and the third-largest amount of funding.

The development of the education sector and the investment of millions is possible thanks to the Citizenship by Investment program, through which foreign qualified investors invest in the country and receive citizenship and a passport in return.

“We have transformed our CBI; we have come a long way from the difficult period in 2014. The robust procedures that are embedded in the program have enabled us to maintain our platinum brand and have ensured we take a significant share in the major markets around the world,” said the Prime Minister.

In terms of educational institutions, some of the most sought-after medical institutions in the region are located in St. Kitts and Nevis:

  • The University of Medicine and Health Sciences (also known as UMHS)
  • The Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine
  • Medical University of the Americas (MUA)
  • The Windsor University School of Medicine

Education in Saint Kitts and Nevis is free for the first 12 years, and according to statistics, the literacy rate is 98%.

The citizenship by investment program has played a key role in the development of not only education but also business and healthcare. Many investors choose the program not only because it has been voted the best by FT PWM Magazine for years in a row, but also because the program offers a number of benefits:

  • Processing time: the citizenship is granted in 6-9 months
  • Zero tax: St. Kitts & Nevis imposes no income, wealth or inheritance taxes.
  • An applicant does not need to visit St. Kitts & Nevis in order to qualify for citizenship, although all applicants are subject to a strict due diligence check.
  • St. Kitts & Nevis recognizes dual citizenship, so you can still benefit from your current citizenship.
  • Global mobility: St. Kitts and Nevis offer enhanced global mobility opportunities for individuals obtaining citizenship through its Citizenship by Investment program.
  • Ability to add siblings to the application
