Greece Drawing Digital Nomads To The Country

Greece recently introduced a bill to parliament, according to which digital nomads with an income of 3,500 euros per month can apply for a digital nomad visa.

Over the past year, many people have changed their minds about their place of work, as most have switched to remote work and were able to organize a workspace for themselves.

Several countries have already started offering a special visa for those who work remotely and want to spend time on the beach near the sea or ocean.

According to the new bill, non-residents of Greece can apply for a 12-month stay in the country and further extend for another 6 months. In total, foreigners can stay in the country for up to 18 months and work with foreign employers.

This is an important and necessary step for the country because “recent research by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology showed that the Greek economy could benefit by 1.3 billion euros if the country attracted 100,000 digital nomads annually and they stayed in the country for an average of six months”- writes greekguru.

To obtain such a visa, you need to fulfill a few simple conditions:

  • Provide proof that the foreigner will work for the entire duration of their stay in Greece (for example, a work contract)
  • Provide proof that the employee earns enough money and monthly income of € 3,500 or more
