Saint Kitts and Nevis Plans To Ban Single-Use Plastic

The Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis is implementing a plan to fight plastic pollution and promote plans to create a healthy environment.

The world produces a huge amount of plastic every year and this can end up in the natural environment and oceans, which can turn out to be a pollutant. That is why St. Kitts and Nevis has begun to take a collaborative approach to reduce plastic waste.

In April 2021, a stakeholder consultation was held on the topic “Are you ready to give up plastic?”. The stakeholder meeting was attended by representatives from the Department of Consumer Affairs, the Small Business Development Center, the Department of International Trade, the Solid Waste Management Corporation, the Department of the Environment and Cooperatives, and Ital Creations.

Further consultations are planned with the private sector this year.

The government is also trying to change people’s attitudes towards the use of single-use plastic. The annual plastic-free July campaign encourages locals to join the action-packed program.

Every year the issue of environmental pollution rises more and more acutely. HNWI is also concerned about the environmental situation in the country.

In addition to this, the country has become one of the best among the countries offering citizenship by investment program and was ranked first in the PWM Financial Times magazine.
